Well, it’s been a while since I last blogged. Actually a while is a little bit of an understatement, it’s been about 10 months since I last blogged… whoops! After abandoning this blog since last November I decided I would motivate myself to update it more frequently this Fall by getting a pretty, new layout. Isn’t it presh?! In addition, to kick off the 2011 Fall photo season, and just because the class of 2012 is the best class ever, I am going to be doing a few giveaways, and offering discounts via my Facebook page. So be sure to check that out starting tonight!

Meanwhile, there are a few sessions from this spring and summer that I cannot help but post, starting out with gorgeous Sophia. Thanks again Boyd’s Orchards for letting us shoot around your property!

I don’t need to tell you that she has a great sense of style, but it totally surprised me when Sophia told me that she goes thrift shopping for cute dresses like this. So jealous of her thrifting skills.

Over the next two weeks I will be posting many of my senior and family sessions from this fall, all the ones that I should have blogged about 2 months ago… (Yeah. Sorry about that.) starting with Patrice! One of my favorite things to do for senior sessions is to drive around town and take spontaneous pictures at places along the way, so I was definitely excited when Patrice said she was up for it. Right when we started it began raining (not cool!) but after waiting a while the sun came out and the light was gorgeous.

So Kim here is probably the nicest, sweetest person I know. During her session her mom was telling me about her years of braces, dental procedures, and other not so fun things that have to do with teeth. You can tell it was worth it though, because she has a beautiful smile! (As proved below.) Kim and her sister Anne had their sister pictures done in downtown Midway. They were really fun, and I had a great time! (Hope they did too!)

They had sister rings, so cute!

I took Jillian’s photos a few weeks ago, right before school started. We used to go to elementary school together like eight years ago, so it was cool getting to see her again! She was super sweet, and we ended up getting some gorgeous sunset/sun flare pictures.

Lizzie’s session was one of my favorite senior sessions ever. She was my first senior of 2011, and also the first person to be photographed by my new camera. (Which is amazing, by the way.) It rained pretty much all day, so we were nervous about having to reschedule, but the rain stopped just a few hours before, and the sky totally cleared up. The gorgeous light + the CUTEST farm ever (is it weird to say I wish I lived there? Oh well. I do!) made for some beautiful photos. And of course Lizzie’s wonderful modeling skillz. (:

This girl is awesome. AND she loves the Jonas Brothers.

I seriously cannot believe that summer is over. It went by so much faster than it usually does. As you can tell, I’ve pretty much neglected this blog the entire time, as well as my personal photography, which makes me sad. I feel so unmotivated to get off the sofa and go take pictures just for fun. So I’ve decided to mix it up a little. I’m starting a 52 week project, which basically means you take a photo once a week every week for a year. It doesn’t really seem like much of a challenge, considering I take around 3,000 photos a week, but my goal is to take one picture that I absolutely love that has nothing to do with Emme Photography, every seven days. How does this relate to you? I have no idea. But if you’re interested in keeping track of my progress you can take a look at my Flickr every now and then for updates. I have yet to take the first picture, however. This may or may not happen, in which case, don’t bother checking the Flickr! Just kidding. Do it anyways.

In other news, I’m revamping my website, blog and “behind the scenes” a little bit. I’ve updated my website photos, and am in the process of redesigning this blog and working on some new marketing materials. I’ve also created some super cute new packaging boxes (among other things), which you will you receive your ordered prints in. It’s really lame that I get so excited over something simple boxes, but what can I say? I love it. I’ve also recently upgraded to a beautiful new camera, which I absolutely adore. (Not as much as the Jonas Brothers, but still, it’s great.) Along with this I’ve increased my prices a bit, but for all the extra effort and TLC your pictures are getting, I promise it’s worth it.

So back to pictures, this is Kate. She is good at taking care of chickens, and driving and just being awesome. And jumping shots, those are harder than they look you know! For her session, we drove around the extraordinarily exciting town of Versailles.

Told you she was good at jumping.

This year, through my Journalism class, I’ve had the opportunity to make tons of new amazing friends. Two of them being, Lisa and Johanna. Two funny, talented, beautiful, sarcastic Germans. Germans, they’re just the best. Last month before they went home, Lisa, Johanna and I decided to take some fun, model-y type photos. They were troopers, and considering all the tall grass we walked through it’s a miracle none of us got ticks or chiggers or any other small annoying blood sucking things.

Germans + German Shepherd. That was my brilliant idea, thank you very much.

My favorite thing to do is conceptual portraiture, which I normally don’t get to on my portrait session adventures. So of course we had to whip out a vintage lamp and old book.

Told you they were crazy.
